Dr Rose Fuhrmann PhD, MA, MRSS (t)
Shiatsu - Chinese Medicine- Voice, Breath and Energy Work Rose is an academic teacher and researcher with a PhD in religious history and Church law, who has worked at universities in Germany and Switzerland, where she first came into contact with Chinese Medicine and Shiatsu. |
|
Weekend workshops were followed by a foundation training in Luzern (Switzerland) and, after having moved to England, by a three-year professional training course at the Shiatsu College in Brighton. By then she had become totally fascinated with Chinese Medicine, realising that it provides us with the most profound understanding of how physical, mental and emotional well-being can be maintained or regained. She consequently gave up her academic career to become a professional practitioner of Chinese Medicine and Shiatsu.
She worked in the Lewes Clinic for a number of years before moving her practice to her own rooms in Cooksbridge. The Garden Clinic is a relaxing place in a peaceful, lovely setting - with no parking problems. |

| Shiatsu |
Shiatsu is a healing art which is based on the principles of ancient Chinese medicine and the techniques of acupuncture and traditional Japanese massage.
Most of the more recently developed styles of Shiatsu do not use the strong acupressure applied in Japanese massage to stimulate the flow of Qi; nor do they focus predominantly on acupuncture points.
Instead of points, energy channels (meridians) are worked throughout the body, using, what is called, Qi-projection rather than strong physical pressure.
As a result treatments tend to be comforting and relaxing as well as energising and healing. More >> |

| Chinese Medicine |
 |
Chinese medicine looks back over a history of over 2500 years. In recent years, there has been a considerable increase in research exploring western and eastern concepts of health and healing, using modern scientific methods to investigate ancient techniques of medical diagnosis and intervention.
Chinese medicine perceives and treats body, mind and spirit as a complex whole constantly in communication with itself as well as its environment. The image used is that of an unceasing flow of Qi or life energy.
Wellbeing is experienced when this flow is even and strong; when it is permanently weakened and disturbed tension, anxiety, malaise and finally disease will arise. More >> |

| Voice, Breath & Energy Work |
|
The voice is a great barometer (and thus a very useful diagnostic tool) for our health and well-being - a fact often overlooked in our age, which is becoming more visually oriented by the day.
The breath is crucial to our sheer existence - we speak of taking our first and our last breath. Oxygen is a prime mover of our metabolic system and of all processes on our planet.
Voice and breath are closely related and both are relying on a proper posture and a balanced mind to unfold their full potential. More >> |

| Classes, Workshops & Events |
|
Rose regularly runs workshops, either on her own or with other highly experienced practitioners and teachers. While the general theme of these workshops is the exploration, opening and enhancement of energy fields, our own and consequently that of others, the focus of each workshop will lie either with Shiatsu or with Voice and Breath work.
